Outlwile Maselwanyane – African Farming

CATTLE

Outlwile Maselwanyane, Mahikeng – Ramatlabama, North West

We’ve had good rains this year so we’re hoping that our grazing camps will have enough grass to last until the next rains. August is an easy month for us.

We can focus on infrastructure main tenance and on getting our animals through the end of winter.

The bulls are still with the cows – but hopefully most of them are pregnant. We will check to confirm pregnancies soon and then we will separate the open cattle from the pregnant cows.

The bulls will go back into the open cow group. The cattle are still on a higher protein winter lick which we mix ourselves. The mix contains molasses meal, grass or lucerne and crushed yellow maize for energy.

When we don’t have lucerne we substitute with maize chop; molasses meal can be substituted with Master 20. We mix one 50kg bag of molasses meal to 15 bags (50kg) of a mixture of maize chop, grass and crushed maize.

The cattle always have a block of salt in the kraals to stimulate appetite and encourage water intake.

In winter there are less diseases around but we are still monitoring animals and treating those that show signs of sickness.

We are preparing for the rainy season in terms of herd health. We will vaccinate the cattle against lumpy skin disease which we get in our area. We are preparing to replace winter licks with summer licks as soon as possible after the first rain when the grass will start flushing.

Thapelo Sedibana – African Farming

GOATS

Thapelo Sedibana, Ga-Molekana (Mokopane), Limpopo

We are starting to prepare for the rainy season and will be vaccinating our goats against heartwater and other diseases prevalent in the wet season, with Multivax P. The vaccine helps control and prevent lamb dysentery, pulpy kidney, tetanus, blackleg, clostridial metritis (malignant oedema of the uterus), bloodgut and other clostridial infections. We believe that prevention is better than cure and this works well for us.

We don’t dose our goats as they are well adapted to the area and we only have a few cases of sick animals. We use a tetracycline – Ultratet – to treat gallsickness (anaplasmosis), heartwater, pneumonia, and footrot.

We began to prepare for winter in March, which was when we bought in extra lucerne and baled grass when prices were still good.

Ours is a semi-intensive operation where the goats graze for a few hours every day. We feed them a mixture of lucerne and grass as extra feed and give them NutriFeed goat pellets and maize chop, Voerdokter and crushed yellow maize in the evening.

How to Drive Traffic to your Website Successfully — Lionesses of Africa

by the FutureSoft Admin Team

In this digital age, almost everyone needs to prove their worth online. From small home-based businesses to medium and large companies, you will find everyone vying for online visibility focused on building a successful online and offline business. Every day hundreds of websites are created and launched. So how do you ensure that your website is the one that your target audience clicks on in the list of search results?

Let us introduce you to SEO — or better known as Search Engine Optimization.

The majority of online traffic is driven by search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. Although social media can generate visitors to your website, search engines are still the major source of navigation for most Internet users, irrespective of whether your site provides information, or focuses on products or services. An average customer, searching for a service or product online, generally doesn’t go beyond the first three pages of search results in any search engine listing. It’s like going to the mall, most shoppers automatically go into the first store they see and it’s no different with websites. Getting on top of a Search Engine ranking can be an excellent opportunity for your business, but you must remember that getting on top is only half-the-battle, the actual work lies in staying on the top.

So the big question is — how do you ensure that your website continuously features at the top of the search engine result page (SERP)? The answer is SEO — better known as Search Engine Optimization. SEO is a big part of Digital Marketing and basically focuses on optimizing your website by following various guidelines set by search engines. SEO needs to be done both on-site and off-site and includes using meta tags, title tags, having an XML site map included, building backlinks and much more.

If you still feel completely lost, just keep reading…

Here are 5 easy to implement tips to improve your search engine ranking…

1. Header Tags

Good formatting of your content helps improve the user experience of your website tremendously. It makes readers more willing to spend time to read your content and come back for more, which will ultimately signal your relevancy to search engines. Proper use of header tags can help break up your content into sections that are easier to read and utilize.

2. Outbound Links

To make your content more useful and relevant, you can link out to authority sites for more in-depth information your readers can use. Linking out to well-respected authority sites will not only increase the relevancy of your content and time readers spend on your site, but it is also believed to send trust signals to Google and improve SEO ranking. However, more is not necessarily better. Too many outbound links can be distracting and make the content hard to get through.

3. Readability

Even if you have a well-educated audience, they still don’t want to have to have a dictionary at hand when they visit your website. Making your content easy to read and understand helps make it useful to your readers. Some experts also believe that Google takes readability into account when ranking webpages. You can use a variety of tools to test your content’s readability, including:

4. Contact Us Page

According to Google, websites that have sufficient contact information are considered to be more trust-worthy and therefore may rank higher by search engines. Well-designed contact forms increase user participation and help generate new business opportunities, capture new leads, improve customer service, and more. Thus including a Contact Us page on your website and putting the link in the navigation not only makes for good user experience, but can also potentially earn you some Google trust.

5. Page Load Speed

Users may leave your site if they have to wait even just an extra few seconds for each page to load, which is why both Google and Bing take page-load speeds into account in their ranking algorithms.

4 seconds is the optimal page load speed you should be aiming for. There are many ways to increase page load speed, some of which include using a caching plug-ins, making sure the code is clean and streamlined, optimizing image sizes, reducing the number of plug-ins, and minimizing redirects.

Living free from fear and labels — Lionesses of Africa

Why is your hair brown? Why is it so plain? Why are your eyes green? Why are you wearing pink lipstick?

I gave her a huge smile and with a childlike mind, I asked ” what should it look like, trying to understand her little mind map. She responded ” Oh no, it’s boring”

You should have colourful hair ( like the rainbow). You must wear sparkly lip gloss. Your clothes must look more colourful. Oh and you must wear glitter shoes.

I smiled and realized at that moment just how beautiful her view of life was. She had no fear of being judged. No fear of being labelled different. She was confident, beautiful, and bold in her own skin without any labels from others. This got me thinking. How many of us walk around with labels such as:

You are not smart enough
You are too vocal
You are not worthy
You are stupid
You don’t deserve better
You are too fat, short, tall, skinny
Your hair is too curly, too straight

By becoming aware of labels, you can begin to ask quality questions and test them against reality.

How does this label serve me? Who am I really? What is the worst that can happen if I continue to walk around with this label? What is the best that can happen if I remove, and release the label?

Truth be told, as our kids grow older they can be boxed with labels by others. It’s our responsibility as adults to allow them to be free, fearless, and confident in their own skin.

real or rubbish? Learn some tricks to mobilize your motivation — Lionesses of Africa

by Marjon Meyer

Did you leap out of bed this morning? It’s cold… it’s winter, Covid-restrictions limit our movements and business operations, and we’ve learnt to no longer look too far ahead. So, do you even set any goals during these crazy times? If yes, what fuels your progress? This year’s lockdown restrictions and lifestyle is a lot easier for me than last year. I like the “new normal”.  Working from home, doing more online shopping to avoid busy malls (buying things we don’t need) and appreciating my own lovely home is a blessing.  I’ve learnt to focus on close relationships and live more intentionally. Learnt to not sweat the small stuff.

I have different goals now. I want to run further, not necessarily faster. I would like to reach people in a more meaningful manner with my online training and coaching, not necessarily having bigger audiences. I would like to nurture the special people in my life, rather than seeing so many people. My fuel or motivation is to live a full life, despite restrictions, empty conference rooms and places where we used to gather, closed.

The textbook description of motivation is the process that initiates, guides, and maintains goal-oriented behavioursIt is what causes you to act, whether it is walking or running to become fit, studying a course to obtain a qualification or the self-discipline to save some money towards a personal goal. Getting started is the hardest part though….

The interesting reality about what really motivates us

Are you motivated to get up from the couch and get cracking on achieving your goals? How hard do you push yourself to get things done? Money is seldom a motivator in the long term, as we don’t work for money, rather for what money can do for us (providing for our families, financing dreams or doing good where we go).  So then why do we work?

Motivation comes in two flavours, namely intrinsic and extrinsic. The intrinsic type comes from inside and compels someone to pursue a set of goals. When you are intrinsically motivated, you engage in an activity because you enjoy it and get personal satisfaction from doing it. When you are extrinsically motivated, you do something in order to gain an external reward.

Self-motivation is the force that keeps pushing us to go on – it’s our internal drive to achieve, produce, develop, and keep moving forward. When you think you’re ready to quit something, or you just don’t know how to start, your self-motivation is what pushes you to go on. I see this with my awesome running friends who push themselves to go further and faster. Dedicated students of all ages use this powerful force to achieve academic results. In a time when working from home has become so important, our internal locus of control takes over to be productive and efficient.

The 3 elements of intrinsic motivation

Daniel Pink is a modern writer on business and management. He argues that the evidence of scientific studies on motivation and rewards suggests that basic financial reward systems simply do not work. In fact, they can lead to worse performance. The holy grail of motivation is therefore:

Autonomy

Autonomy is the desire to direct our own lives. Pink argues that allowing employees autonomy results in employees being more engaged in what they are doing and this reflects positively in the bottom line. The new remote economy requires this mind shift to happen sooner than later!

Mastery

This is the desire to continually improve at something that matters. Humans love to “get better at stuff” – they enjoy the satisfaction from personal achievement and progress. Allowing employees to enjoy a sense of progress at work contributes to their inner drive.

Purpose

This is the desire to do things in service of something larger than ourselves. We intrinsically want to do things that matter. Most of us spend more than half our awake hours working. We want that time to matter.

Want to learn a new skill?

Annabel Marais – a cellist who is doing her master’s degree thesis on adults wanting to play an instrument, found that adult learners are usually far more eager to learn to play their chosen instrument than child learners.  Adult learners don’t play the cello due to a parent’s own projected need – they play because they would like to discover the beauty of a classic instrument and the heavenly music.  Because Annabel knows why her students want to play the cello, she is able to provide the right music and coaching that will help them achieve their goals.

In contrast, children do not always have the same goal for starting with a musical instrument. Adult learners push themselves (intrinsic motivation) because they have already succeeded in learning various skills throughout their lives. Now, they choose to learn to play a new instrument from scratch. The sense of satisfaction when a new piece of music is mastered is immense.

Adult learners are also more motivated to practice their instruments because they pay for the lessons themselves. They are self-motivated to progress and practice despite having day jobs. One adult student was encouraged to play the cello because it was her lifelong dream, another participant wanted to learn to play the cello alongside her six-year-old daughter.

See Annabel in action: L E A P Sometimes you just need to take that… – White Motion Films | Facebook

Which skill are you keen to master? it’s never too late to sign up for a study course or learning a new trick.  A computer course, a qualification or learning to crochet.

Companies who provide learning opportunities like formal (online) training, coaching and self-directed learning are encouraging people to grow and become more confident. The good news is therefore that a good balance of adequate external motivation, and an environment that encourages internal motivation, is achievable. On the altruistic side, it has been shown that higher motivation also leads to better employee wellness and satisfaction. It seems like a no-brainer.

Success and motivation co-exist.  It never happens on its own, it requires a plan that we must stick to.  Try these tips:

  1. Have clear objectives – Create a list of all the things you wish to accomplish, whether at home, in business, with friends, in relationships, etc. Set realistic time frames that you can achieve.

  2. Get yourself a partner-in-crime – Having someone else by your side is hugely motivational since this person will be your biggest cheerleader and motivate you whenever you need some cheering on. Exercising is way more likely to happen if someone is awaiting you.

  3. Stick to your values and ethics – People are attracted to those with strong personal and business ethics. Be kind to those who cannot ever repay you.

  4. Use your influence – You will be amazed at your ability to influence others with your own positive outlook on life – regardless of your address, occupation or bank balance.

  5. View problems as challenges – Yeah, I know it sounds like a cliché, but it works. Life is a series of problems that need to be resolved.

  6. Make those decisions – Just do it, don’t procrastinate as all decisions eventually have to made!

  7. Seek out advice – We can never know everything ourselves whereas more minds contain more information and ideas. Only fools don’t ask. Advice is cheap but mistakes become expensive.

  8. You are your biggest asset – to achieve your list you must realize that you are the only one who can do it. This makes you a very important asset to you. Invest in your health, skills and happiness.

  9. Make time for your loved ones – you only have today once. Love the people you committed yourself and your life to by spending time with them. They will love you back.

  10. Get movin’ – Get up off your butt and make things happen.

  11. Keep your life interesting and challenging – try new things and embark on adventures (even if it is in your own living room). Stretch your mind and your abilities. Do things that make you happy.

  12. Forgive yourself for mistakes made – look back and ask only what lessons you have learnt. Don’t repeat the mistake. I repeat – don’t repeat the mistake.

  13. Ensure that you do at least one meaningful thing a day – and you get to choose what this is.

  14. Reward yourself – When you reach your goals, acknowledge your win and reward yourself.

It’s nobody’s job to motivate you or to make you happy.  You have to take responsibility for your life and happiness.  Decide what it takes – and then… just do it!

Let’s Collaborate – what’s the worst that could happen? — Lionesses of Africa

by Lionesses of Africa Operations Department

Totally shocked at the news that we won’t see the incredible, inspirational, the one, the only Serena at Wimbledon again, let alone in other Tennis Tournaments around the globe after the US Open, given her announcement of her impending retirement, or as she says (here): “Maybe the best word to describe what I’m up to is evolution. I’m here to tell you that I’m evolving away from tennis, toward other things that are important to me.”. What a career, what an inspiration – 23 major singles titles; four Olympic gold medals; 319 weeks at No 1 in the world rankings; to say nothing of the drive to follow their dreams she gave to millions off the court, that they too could break glass ceilings and follow their passions – no matter the obstacles.

Searching through the internet for mentions of Serena to feed our sadness, we came across a post from 2009 from our fav Nigerian artist, the Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter India Arie.  Not really needing an excuse to watch her music videos, we turned the speakers on full blast and sat back.

Imagine our joy when we realized that the India had been invited to collaborate with the great guitarist Carlos Santana and the world’s greatest living Cellist, Yo Yo Ma, in a version of George Harrison’s incredible piece ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’. Now there’s a serious collaboration. Indeed as India said: “Collaborating with Santana is [and she pauses…] perfect.” [These pauses are important as Ebony magazine points out (here): “Arie understands the power of words, at times noticeably pausing to think before offering a response to questions.”]

…and I KNOW that song, I have always loved that energy, that very etherial energy of the song, and once I finally heard Carlos’ part, all of it felt even more [pause again] like a new love…Even more exciting.

…But Yo Yo Ma is WAY out there for me, I never even thought to wish to work with YO YO MA !!” You can listen to the excitement this all created in India when she repeats what she told her mother at the time by watching her interview here. This from the always modest – indeed modest to a fault, India Arie, a globally recognized singer songwriter who has herself set the world alight with her incredible music (having sold over 5 million records in the US and 10 million worldwide, winning four Grammy Awards from her 23 nominations, including Best R&B Album), acting like a teenager over a collaboration for a song that she knew inside out.

Being part of this album, is a sign that I am aligned with the kind of people I want to be. You never thought that you would even get to shake their hand and they want you on a record…”.

“I am aligned to the people I want to be”, if we make allowances for her crazy (to us) modesty, this to us, shows that she wants to be aligned with people that have her level of skill, passion, drive and most importantly, values.

It is interesting that this should be the song chosen as inspiration for such a collaboration, for it came to Harrison when reading the Chinese book ‘I Ching’, or “The Book of Changes”. As Harrison put it, “[the book] seemed to me to be based on the Eastern concept that everything is relative to everything else, as opposed to the Western view that things are merely coincidental.

Taking this to heart he resolved to write a song based upon the first words he saw on opening a random page in the book. Thankfully for the world the first words he first saw were “gently weeps” (‘Published by Penguin’ might not have worked quite so well, we feel).

However, this concept that ‘everything is relative to everything else’ is so important and that applies to business too and especially to collaborations where you are wanting to collaborate with those that bring something special to the business, yet at the same time have the same level of skill, passion, drive and values as yourself. Drop part of these in your search for a collaboration partner and the end result will sadly be dragged down and become relative to that lowest point.

Possibly this is why collaborations are often feared and many times ignored. The belief that we have to do everything on our own is wrong – perhaps we think it is the only way we can keep our high standards, high. This is misguided. We don’t have to build our expertise across many different skills. Indeed customers don’t come to us because we are a ‘Jack (or Jane) of all trades’, but because we are a Queen of a niche area. If you want to be a generalist, suddenly you come up against the Walmarts of this world – and there is only one winner there!

As Goldman Sachs point out in their report entitled: ‘‘A Survivor’s Guide To Disruption’ (here): “[b]y leveraging other firms to provide core business functions…companies can scale their businesses at a faster pace than before and access expertise or technology that would otherwise have been out of their reach…businesses can thus do what they need to do to compete, not only more cheaply, but also more quickly and – most importantly – better than they could on their own.

It is now easier than ever for companies to concentrate on their core business – that which makes them great. They can celebrate that they are an incredible singer with a voice that melts all from a thousand yards, whilst collaborating with one of the world’s greatest Guitarists and Cellists. Although India plays incredibly on the guitar, even she would admit she is no Santana, so why not use his gifts – likewise with the Cello.

This fact was clearly recognised by Carlos Santana who invited India and YoYo to collaborate on this incredible song. He was not ‘bolting’ on just anyone, but the leaders in that particular field (Carlos will be the first to admit we are sure that his voice would not have quite the same impact as India’s!), this collaboration then goes out under his name on his album it so it appears that this is all one big happy, incredibly well run company or family under his inspirational leadership. This is so powerful.

You know that the partner will not let you down because they really are leaders in their field. Plus they have invested in areas you were unable to either afford (in time to train yourself, or in money), or never realized you needed…

By leveraging other firms to provide core business functions…companies can scale their businesses at a faster pace than before and access expertise or technology that would otherwise have been out of their reach…businesses can thus do what they need to do to compete, not only more cheaply, but also more quickly and – most importantly – better than they could on their own.

This…allows firms to organize themselves around their sources of competitive advantage…Today, the best firms are typically organized around what they do well and – to the extent that they can – rely on other firms to do the rest.

This is even better if you find a company willing to ‘white-label’ their expertise. Just as India and Yo Yo’s brilliance appeared on Carlos’ album, so you can do a deal with a company that is also willing for you to use their expertise, but everything appears as if part of your organisation.

This has impact in two major areas:

1. You suddenly appear much larger than you are. Much like the Polyphemus Moth that has two large black rings on its wings that look from a distance as if they are two large eyes belonging to a very large animal and so predators better stay away.

2. Customers are more relaxed because you have the size to support them on their journey at a time when secure and stable supply chains are so valuable.

You can concentrate on having the very best product or service, happy that the rest is being looked after by a group that is also concentrating on being the best in their area. You are not chasing the dream of being the best at everything, be it product, or service, or trucking, or shipping, or last mile delivery, or even a call centre! Or you collaborate your business that trains SMEs with an accounting firm that specializes in SMEs, so that each part shares in the success of the other whilst making customers ‘sticky’.

The possibilities are endless.

What makes a collaboration or indeed, any partnership, great?

At the core of this is VALUES.

Whoever you choose to partner with, or white label from, or any kind of collaboration, at the core are your Values. Here you can never sell yourself short. They must think like you. Rumours of bribes or corruption (a problem across the globe) is a no no. Treat their staff badly? – Another no no. Shout loudly at the crowd or Umpire? No chance… Whatever values you have – must be reflected in all parts of your business and all businesses that your business touches. This is so central to any successful collaboration.

Values – like the ones shown in tennis by Andy Murray who calls himself a feminist – “Have I become a feminist? Well, if being a feminist is fighting for a woman to be treated like a man, then yes,  suppose I have.” and constantly shows this in his actions by calling out reporters who ignore or forget the incredible achievements by women and especially the Williams sisters…One such interview (here) he corrected a reporter who was gushing about how great it was for Murray to have been the first to win two Olympic golds, to which Murray calmly pointed out that Serena and Venus had each won 4…

Serena sees this too. “I do not think there is a woman player who is not totally supportive of Andy Murray. He has spoken up for women’s rights, especially in tennis, forever. He has such a wonderful mother, who has been such a strong figure in his life and he has done so much for us on our tour. We love Andy Murray.”(Here)

So what happened when Serena who had been slowed down by knee pain needed extra match practice coming into Wimbledon? She turned to someone with her own values and collaborated with Andy who was recovering from hip surgery, to play in the Wimbledon Mixed Doubles. Being such an inspiration to so many, Serena recognised that with whomever she partnered, had to have her own values, likewise we are certain, the same for Andy (here).

If you align with someone or a business that has your level of skill, passion, drive and values and yet has a different but much needed skill set – what’s the worst that could happen? For Serena and Andy it was being knocked out in the 3rd round – but they clearly had fun, they did what they set out to do (gain much needed court time under pressure) and Wimbledon had for the first time put the mixed doubles on Centre Court, making them and many within the Tennis World sit up and notice the excitement…

Stay safe.

Preparation meets opportunity — Lionesses of Africa

by Phindile Ndlovu-Tapula

Yes, I know you are probably wondering why I am writing again. I have asked that question myself several times too. You see I haven’t been able to write, felt like I have nothing to say and that no one is listening anyway. But something kept pushing to write, so I am here again.

Perhaps before I took the responsibility of promising a blog every 2 weeks, I should have prepared for the next 2 months in advance. So many questions in my mind on why I let myself fall off the wagon for so long and it all boils down to preparation. I almost forgot how great it feels to just put thoughts to paper and let them flow. Funny how when you stop for a while, going back is daunting. Pretty much like most things in life, especially talent – you don’t use it and you will eventually lose it.

So how do we hold on to our dreams, keep them alive, even when we scramble for more time as working moms? How do we ensure we don’t lose momentum working on our businesses and not let them die a slow death? I have experience of this by the way – I launched a t-shirt line and a cup collection but haven’t made much profit. Sure, I haven’t made a significant loss and managed to share my business idea with a few prominent people, but I am not happy with my bottom line and that is all thanks to the level of hard work I have put in it. I could do better, been more consistent, been accountable. For crying out loud, the last Instagram post was 4 days ago!

Surely, I don’t want my business to thrive, you would say, but wrong – I love my idea and products but I just didn’t prepare enough. I had an idea and immediately jumped to launch. I didn’t invest capital and equipment. I had a great idea, marketed my samples, and ran out of steam and now I must pivot, think differently. If I had prepared for dry seasons, times when I would just not have the energy to be creative and whip together an awesome post on Instagram. If only I could have been prepared to get the marketing going, even when no one was buying or following.

Preparation is what it boils down to. Because truth is, no matter how many people give you an opportunity, platform, and space. if you are unsure, unprepared, you will waste the opportunity. Someone once said, “it is better to be prepared and not given the opportunity than given the opportunity yet not prepared.”

How I wish it was easy to prepare – I mean really prepare – like deciding the outfit for the next day the night before, or meal prep and sticking to a diet, or preparing for my week with a weekly planner. Truth is, preparing is boring, it takes away our free time, often seems insignificant, but believe me it is the magic trick.

Practically, it is as easy as investing in a supportive structure. My friend shared this with me and it changed the game. Yes, get that full time helper! And no you’re not a bad mom or bad wife – you’re a working mom, a businesswoman!

The second thing I would suggest is doing the hard, not so feel-good things like denying your kids that extra hour of screen time but encouraging them to read a book. Good habits, unlike the bad ones, are so difficult to cultivate into our lifestyle. But do the boring, not so fun things, be a fair but disciplined parent, be accountable to the things you said you would do. Do the right thing, yes that means waking up early too, sorry but it just must happen. That includes exercising too…Okay, I am done but I can go on and on about which good habits can set us up for success in the long run. Let’s get uncomfortable and working.

I am preparing myself for something big, my hope is that, when it comes, it needs to find me ready. Sometimes big things come when you have nothing more to give, when there is no motivation. When that something big makes it way to you, don’t let it find you unprepared, complaining, procrastinating, living in your head. Let it find you making the most of what you have and what you have been given. Let it find you disciplined, committed. Opportunity must find you prepared! So, prepare! Get ready!

Irene Mavie, a Mozambican entrepreneur producing a natural cosmetic line — Lionesses of Africa

Tell us a little about your team

My company has counted on the help of its employees, and they are people who like the work they do. They have been very understanding and committed which has added great value to the company.

Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And do you come from an entrepreneurial background?

It all started in 2020, after my graduation. At first it was complicated because it was all new, so I needed to understand myself, mainly because it was the same year the pandemic started. The reality of the entrepreneurial life was different from what we imagined, so it has been a journey of challenges and discoveries. I have set a goal, from which I follow. To be an entrepreneur is to be willing to give your time, it is to know that if you don’t do it, no one will do it for you. It is to know that directly or indirectly it will influence your life or change it. I have learned a lot and entrepreneurship has given me a different view of life. It is very satisfying to look back and to see that I am making progress and I’ve helped to regain people’s self-esteem. That is gratifying. I come from an entrepreneurial family, my father is a fashion designer, my grandmother has always worked in sales, and my brother works with photography.

What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?

I work to make Mavie Cosméticos sustainable and to reduce plastic use in our packaging. To have a good distribution network and to use local primary suppliers (in order to help mine) and get to a level of business so that I can train my staff by myself.
